2002 Vue w/ 2.2L in 2007 @ 72K miles the timing chain's tensioner bolt 'backed out', made metal, couldn't be replaced without new head to secure bolt into. Hot oil flushed to clean debris out. Out of the Saturn dealer's garage minus $2200.00 and w/ 12mo 12000mi limited warranty. TODAY-knocking at idle, take to local garage and mechanic says bearing bits found (babbet?) and VUE needs new motor. Estimates 15.5 hrs labor and costed out to $6120.00 w/ new engine installed. Is there any possible coverage under limited warranty? ( - head replaced at Saturn Dealership - ) Also, are remanufactured/refurbished ecotecs for sale as "new"? And finally, is the garage's estimate excessive or reasonable in your opinion? The local garage is a business we trust but we're certain they have limited experience with Ecotec engine. Thanks
