Optional Information

2005 Chevrolet 6.6 Duramax 6.6 Duramax

Already Tried:
Service cleaned all parts bled the lines and tried to restart system. This tranny is really killing me. Alison is suppose to be unbreakable. I dont think I need a new one. The clutches are fine it shifts in 4 lw through all the gears. But 2h seems like it doesnt have the pressure to shift and auto range finder inhibited comes on. It worked for a bit after I did the service but still not all the way. Still goes back into first and that pops up.

Accepted Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXXXXXX, The Allison transmission has an external inhibitor switch,or range select switch. These have a tendency to go haywire, and have weird symptoms. Usually when they go bad, the range selector does not show the correct gear, the trans will not shift correctly, or at all.And the trans. can shift very harsh .I have seen this many times, and think that replacing this switch may fix your problem, Rather than tearing the trans. apart. If you have any questions, please ask. Thanks, and good luck...Gary
