when start my XXX XXXX bmw it only cranks and craks. this usually happens on 2- 3 attempts and on the 4 it starts?

Hello, it sounds like you have a bad check valve in the fuel pump, This allows the fuel pressure to bleed off. You can test it by use of a pressure gage. If this is the problem you will need to replace the pump assembly, Thank you and please Accept my answer. Sincerely Jacob.
