Question
Both my rear windows stopped working. When I press the button I hear a whirring sound. Could the problem be the safety switch or something else? My front windows work just fine

If you hear noise when pressing the switches it is likely you need both rear window regulators. These are cable and motor assemblies that are attached to the glass with plastic. I have seen the plastic fail resulting in disconnection of the cables. I would say you need both rear window regulators. Thanks, and please Accept my answer if I have helped. Sincerely, XXXXX.
