Question

TO ANY TECH!! The clarification I need is about the head lights. Does the one orange relay for the low beams control left and right in a way that would allow the right side to go out a year before the left. The right went out and stayed out. The left goes on and off for short periods of time. In the fuse box there is more than one orange relay. Where can I find the list of what each relay is used for. There is a box on the left side under the hood next to the main fuse box with a number of orange relays. Is there a list for what each one of those relays controls. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE ORANGE RELAY FOR THE LOW BEAMS, BUT NOT WHERE THE RELAY IS LOCATED. CAN YOU HELP WITH WIRING DIAGRAMS OR DRAWINGS OR PIX OF THE LOCATION. Last but not least, which shop manual is the best for this 88' 735i I am going to buy one now and have been very disappointed with other manuals for this year car. Specifically incomplete wiring diagrams. I will pay $20.00 for the information. I have replaced both head lights already

Thank you again,

Michael

Accepted Answer

Michael, there is a relay for the low beam headlights and a relay for the high beam. However there is a headlight relay that is a taller relay that is yellow. another issue may be that the lkm (light control module) may have cold solider joints which makes your headlights come on and off. I don't have a suggestion for a manual, most are incomplete. Thanks Let me know if I can help you any further. Thanks
