Question

I am trying to replace the oil pump on a 1998 k2500 4wd 350ci. What is the easiest way to remove the pan?? The Haynes manual that I have says to remove the left axle but I can't figure out how that would help......any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Already Tried:
Removed the oil pan bolts, removed the exhaust crossover. Oil pan won't clear the transfer case...

Do you own a Dodge truck or a chevy truck? If it is a chevy truck here is some info:

 

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  2. Raise the vehicle.
  3. Remove the engine oil and the engine oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  4. Remove the oil filter adapter. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement .
  5. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  6. Remove the flywheel inspection cover.
  7. Remove the engine mount through bolts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  8. Raise and support the engine.

  9. Remove the oil pan nuts and bolts.

    Note the location of any studs to assist reassembly.

  10. Remove the engine oil pan and the gasket.
  11. Clean all sealing surfaces. Refer to Oil Pan Clean and Inspect .
