Mama,
You are very astute to recognize the potential danger. Kittens are a curious lot, and love to play and chew on things - especially things that look like strings. Not only are they at risk of being electrocuted should they bite into one of those cords while the power is on, but even if the power is off, you would then have to replace those wires and cords, at the expense of time, money and aggravation.
I would suggest covering the wires with something to make them inaccessible to the kittens. You can try placing them underneath carpeting. Also, many home improvement stores have plastic or wooden pieces similar to the framing around doorways that can be used to cover wires both on the wall and on the floor. Sorry for the weak description - but I'm a pet expert, not a home improvement expert. Wink At any rate, you should be able to go into any home improvement store and tell them what you are looking for.
Enjoy your kittens! They grow up way too fast.
