I have not tried any remedies. He seems to struggle so. Is there anything you can recommend? I am very attached to this little guy and am on a very limited income.

No, I have not tried any remedies. Can you suggest something? This little guy seems to be struggling so. I am very worried. He means so much to me. He is my helper cat because I have emotional problems.

Ok thanks for the info. There are a couple of things that you can try to help with the hairballs. One is to start him on one of the hairball medications. There are many types available either thru your vet or from one of your local pet stores. With longhair cats this is one of the easiest ways to help. Putting it on the top of his paws is one way of getting it in him because he will lick it off. You can also squeeze a little bit in his mouth and hold it shut until he swallows. Another thing that you can try is a teaspoon of mineral oil. This is harder to get down and putting it on food may get it in him but if he isn't eating well he won't get as much. One other thing to consider is having him shaved once or twice a year to keep the hair shorter and possibly reduce the size of the hairballs that he has. If you don't want him shaved then keeping him brushed out is the other choice.
