i got my navel pierced about 5 moths ago and it recently started pussing is it infected

Yes, if you have pus coming from the piercing site, it likely is infected.

If the area around the piercing is red, inflammed, tender, it also suggests that there is a low-grade infection there.

Allowing the pus to drain out is important, as is with keeping the area as clean and dry as possible. Antibiotic skin creams can help as well.

But because the severity of this infection cannot be determined over the Internet, it would be best to be seen by a health professional - where antibiotics can also be prescribed if the infection appears to be more than a simple superficial infection. You do not want this turning into a large abscess and getting you very sick.
