Optional Information

Dover, New Hampshire

Already Tried:
I have the Federal FMLA policy that I have conveyed to my Virginia EE.

To give you some frame of reference
Corp office Dover NH
Satellite office Virginia- 6 EE's they do not have company sponsored health benefits. They do receive accrued PTO.

Does the state of VA offer state disability or pregnancy disability? Or do they mirror the Federal disability laws?

Answer

No. FMLA is a federal law and is applied by all states the same way. However, for an employer to be governed by FMLA, it has to have 50 or more employees or be a government agency. If not, the FMLA does not apply to the employees of that company.

Adam,

Are there any disability laws pregnancy or otherwise specific to Virginia employees?

Accepted Answer

You're going to be limited to your insurance coverage for disability benefits. The employer cannot discriminate against you by stating that if you take off as a result of your pregnancy, you'll be fired.

The answer was not clear. I want to know if Virginia in particular has any other pregnancy or disability laws unique to that state?
