Symptoms of food poisoning can develop quickly, within 30 minutes, or slowing, worsening over days to weeks. Usually it is not serious, and it runs its course in 24-48 hours. Symptoms of food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, fever and chills, weakness, and headache. Make sure you drink any fluid except milk or caffeinated beverages to replace fluids lost by diarrhea and vomiting. If you have diarrhea and are unable to drink fluids (for example, due to nausea or vomiting), you may need medical attention and IV fluids. If you have signs of dehydration including diziness please go to the ER. You should see your doctor if you have diarrhea and are unable to drink fluids due to nausea or vomiting, if diarrhea lasts for more than 2 days, fever over 101, and if there is blood in your stool.
