Question

Should I respond to a collection/law firm about their claim that I owe over a thousand US dollars for prescriptions from over two years ago (for the same medication) that I did not agree to pay at the time Rite Aid Pharmacy had given it to me. These presciptions were rejected by Workers Compensation. It is too late to get my regular prescription plan to pay for this medication. I would not have accepted the prescription if I was told that I have to pay for it. Bottom line, I did not agree, either orally or in writing to pay for this medication. I used to ignore the letters that came every now and then, but now it gets too annoying with a tape recorded phone call from the law firm everyday. Please advise. Thank you.

DO they have a valid claim even if I did not sign or agree to pay for the mediaction? I accepted the medication under full understtanding that my Worker's Compensation insurance will be paying for it. What are my legal rights to get these collectors to stop bothering me? I feel stressed out to a point of harrassment.

Answer

When you accepted the medication from the pharmacy, did it just allow you it to walk out before it confirmed whether or not your insurance would cover it?
