Hi, when i turn off the car (BMW 5 E39 1998 Manual 116000miles), as the engine turns off you can hear a rattling noise, sounds pretty deep not from top. however, if we apply the clutch and meantime swtich off, we do not hear the noise. A mencahnice said it could be chain rattling another said it could be gearbox related. If its only minor I would still want it fixed, thats me. Anyway if you can help me please do, thank you, bye.

Good afternoon.Sounds like the transmission rattling to me.One thing that I have seen fix these strange gearbox rattles is changing the fluid with redline brand gearbox oil.You can google search REDLINE and see what options you have for purchasing it.
