Question

have a 1997 740il. water temp. gauge raises to mid gauge stays there for 5/10 min and than drops to cold/blue area for a short while and start the process all over again. car and temp. fine just a crazy gauge. thanks manuel

Hi there. I have seen BMW do one of two things that will cause this problem. One the thermostat comes a part actualy falls apart. Does the heater blow hot? Two the instrument cluster os going bad.

yes the heater blows hot.

Hi there. Your instrument cluster circuit for temp is bad, I tried to see if just the guage could be fixed, but found no answer. This web site has the cluster and is your best bet type bba-reman into your browser window and look for your cluster.
