Question

Tonight I experienced some wheel trouble. Thought I had a flat but could smell hot metal. Called AAA for assistance. They jacked up the car and was having difficulty turning the tire. Removed the tire and was asked to start and stop my vehicle. (1999 BMW Z3). Inspected for obstruction of any kind, everything was normal. Finally the wheel freed up and turned fine. Put the tire back on and drove home without incident. Can you explain what happend?

Its hard to say what exactly the problem was without inspecting it but the cause was most likely the brake was stuck on for some reason, some common problems with brakes are, a bad caliper, brake hose or the parking brake shoes could have come apart and wedged in.
