My 1997 Lincoln towncar MIL is on. It's showing p0430 and p0455. Can you tell me what these codes mean in layman's terms?

checking the codes is all

Accepted Answer

PO430

This is pretty simple. It means the Catalytic Converter on the driver's side of the car is not working any more and will have to be replaced.

PO455

This one is pretty simple too. The fuel tank system is a sealed system and the car runs tests on it from time to time to make sure it remains sealed so no vapors escape. Yours failed the test big time at least once. 90% of the time this is caused by leaving the gas cap off or real loose.
