I am renter of an office used to conduct business I have asked my landlord to repair my roof and he has not I refuse to pay him rent for the month of september due to the fact that every month I have been paying him the rent he has been making promises to fix my roof and has failed to do so. however he has been putting big pieces of paper over my door way that states that I am closed until further notice due to rent not being paid for my clients and whom ever may pass to see. Answer
He definitely does not have the right to put those signs up but the only way to stop it is to sue him. You can also sue for "constructive eviction" if the damaged roof is such that it is making the office unusable or interfering with its' use. My suggestion before you do anything is to talk to a local lawyer who does real estate law and ask them how the local judge would view this kind of situation. That will tell you how to proceed.

Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information and no attorney client relationship has been formed. You should always contact a local attorney for legal advice.
Several customers have asked how they direct a question to me in particular. If you specifically want me to provide information for you just put “FOR TEXAS ATTY” in the subject line and I will pick up the next time I am online.
