Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXXXX~

Diarrhea and vomiting in a pup as young as yours should be treated as a serious problem, especially if your pup hasn't recieved all of his vaccines yet.

If the diarrhea/vomiting has been going on for more than a couple hours, and if this were my dog, I'd have him seen at an emergency clinic just to be on the safe side. With little pups like yours, I'm always concerned about hypoglycemia and/or dehydration, as young pups are more likely to become sicker faster than older dogs.

Since it just started; can I give him some Peptio-Bismo?

Accepted Answer

If it just started, I wouldn't give him anything, as this could be the body's way of getting rid of something it doesn't want in it (a virus, for example).

I would, however, keep water available to him so that he doesn't get too dehydrated, but do not allow him to eat anything until at least morning. Sometimes simply fasting the dog will help this resolve itself.

If your little dog isn't better by morning, I would seriously suggest you have him seen, just to make sure this isn't something more serious than just a little gastric upset.
