Question

I own a 2002 silverado 1500 2wld 4.8. Will the computer in the truck operate a 5.3 engine or do I have to change that also?

hello. the computer is, according to a GM parts depo, the same in both vehicles. BUT the PCM will require programming to the 5.3 before it will operate it properly. most local repair shops or dealerships can program them easily and quickly.
