I think it is just 1 cylinder. It has 6600 surge watts. I hope you got the model # from the electrician.
The generator was purchased in 2005 for hurricane Wilma. I started it often back then but slacked off in the last 8 months. I did not know I left gasoline in it, but I did. I poured it out and put new fuel in with gas stabelized. Do you suppose it's the carborator?
Hi CL, I was able to get the engine manual so I know what kind of arrangement you have and yes, it is single cylinder. More than likely, there is some "gunk" in the carburetor and I have a feeling that you are in need of the generator now so I'm going to tell you what to do. Since I only have eng drawing I don't know if you have a fuel shut off valve so if you do, shut it off. If not, put some tape on the jaws of a Vise-Grip and clamp it off. The air filter looks like its fairly large and is going to be in the way so just take the two screws off the front, then take the element out and you'll see two more screws. take them out and put the filter housing to the side. It appears the carb has a single "nut" holding what is called the float bowl on, at the bottom. Take the nut out with one hand while holding the other hand underneath to catch the float that wants to swing away but don't let it. Sorry but i forgot to mention that first, before you start, get a can of carburetor and choke spray so you can have something to clean the carb with. Anyway, now that you have the bowl down, you'll be able to see how much "gook" is there. If theres not much, you can spray everything clean using the "straw" they give you with the can. Clean the bowl and put it back. Then re-assemble the air filter assy. and try it out. IF, the carb is REALLY full of "brown stuff", you'll be better off taking it off completely and trying to clean it off the engine because then you'll be able to get every part of it. A quick way of telling if it needs a "minor" cleaning, as opposed to a "major" one is if you can move the throttle arm. If you can't move it, don't waste your time. Just take it off all together. When you put it all together make sure you put some gasket sealer on all mating surfaces.
I hope you'll be able to get it going! By the way, you may click on the "accept" key now because I'll still be able to offer any further assistance regarding this question, sincerely,Dave
