Answer

Hello and thank you for using Just Answer. Being able to receive a large refund when you file your Federal income tax depend on tax liabilities, tax credits you qualify for and amount withheld from your wages during the year. If you want to use your withholding from your wages to receive a large refund on line 3 on W-4 (www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf) you check "single" and on line 5 enter 0. You can also enter any amount on line 6 for even a larger refund.

Sorry, but I was at work and just got home or I would have answered you sooner!
I think I filled it out wrong again. I asked before I filled it out and someone told me to put 1 on line A of Personal Allowances Worksheet. What sort of a refund would I get if I didn't change that to 0???? My normal refund ends up being about the same as a 2 week paycheck.

Accepted Answer

The personal allowances worksheet is for your record only. Your employer will only get bottom part of the W-4 form. Its hard to say how much of a refund you will receive unless I have more information about your income and expenses. If you claim 1 on your W-4 and your refund is about 2 week paycheck, changing the W-4 to 0 you refund might be about 3 weeks
