Question

I have a Charmglow BBG Model XXX-XXXXX, Serial # TBC 8530F Propane with Side and Rotisserie burners. The temperature of the Rotisserie burner does NOT exceed 220 degrees and this temperature is too low to cook a chicken or roast. The metal hose from control knob to burner and the burner itself have been replaced by Home Depot and it still does not get hot. What is the problem??????

Answer

Hello XXX XX XXX XXXX,

Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer. The problem is likely clogged vent holes, in the regulator which can cause irregular fuel flow and can lead to problems as you described. You can try to clear it by tapping or blowing into the vent. If that does not work replacement will be necessary. The control valve can often cause this problem.

I have been told by Home Depot that both outside burners(4 in total) must be used along with the rotisserie burner to generate enough heat to cook a whole chicken or a roast. I always thought this was a NO NO. This is definitely taboo on my Vermont Castings BBQ.

Sorry to say Home Depot is known for providing poor advice. I believe the problem is with the unit and you should not need to operate all 4 burners.
