Hello Customer!
This is probably an infection called tinea versicolor caused by an organism similar to what causes ringworm and athletes foot but more common. It worsens in the sun or with sweating. It is spread by contact and very hard to get rid of. Besides the appearance there is no other reason you have to treat it. Topical lotrimin over the counter for 6-8 weeks may work but what works better is prescription Selsun solution wash or an antifungal pill called Ketoconazole. The more common way to pick it up is exposure, gyms, clothes, etc. A very rare possibility is vitiligo, which can be autoimmune or unknown causes. The only way to know for sure would be to see your dr, but the versicolor is so common it is more likely that.
