Question

i recieved my green card in 1987 then it was cancelled after three years because i was told i did not quallify for the amnesty i left the country in 1991 for i didn't want to be illegal then in 1994 i got a multiple entry 10 yr visa valid untill 2011 i was traveling back and forth frm my country to the usa untill 2003 i overstayed my time allowed and ive been here ever since ; is there anyways that i can aquire a work permit or any kind of legal staus ?

Answer

About the only thing you can do is marry a U.S. Citizen (for love, of course). Once you are even one day illegal (overstay), you can no longer do anything through employment. You could try to apply for Asylum (which is really too late to do now as you are supposed to apply within a year of arriving), or Withholding of Removal, but this is only if you have a credible fear of persecution if you are returned to your home country. About the only other thing you can do is wait for a change in the law which may come after the elections.
