Hi There,
Was he outside during the day for longer periods of time? was plenty of drinking water available to him?
How long has this fever been going? What is his gums color (are they pink or pale)
Any other health abnormality (inablity to walk, seizures etc)?
Does he look dehydrated (are the gums dry to touch)?
Thanks - Dr.M
Thank you for the information. Fever and lethargy are seen in many disease conditions (majority of which are of infectious origin). If it is from heat stroke then he needs immediate veterinary care. Heat stroke can be fatal if not attended immediately. If you think he is very sick then I certainly recommend you to take him to your local animal emergency clinic. If he is stable then the best thing to do would be to take him to your veterinarian first thing in the morning and get a thorough physical exam and blood work. It is hard to say what it is without doing an exam and blood work. Hopefully there won't be any dramatic change in his condition between now and morning. I hope this information helps. Please don't hesitate to ask any further questions. Good luck! - Dr.M
