Question

I parked my 71 C10 in good running order for 2 weeks while I went on vacation, it started first time on my return and idled fine, but when I took it out for a run and gave it some Gas it started bogging and miss fireing, when I floor the Gas pedal it picks up but still is not perfect. I replaced the fuel lines from the pump to the carb...no change, I then found that the Trans modulator was blowing Trans fluid up the vacum hose to the engine so I replaced that...still no change, I removed all the plugs and cleaned them they were prety clean when they came out...but no change. It's been a week now and it is still the same. How can a Truck that was running so well a couple of weeks ago go so wrong on it's own? any help will be greatly apreciated.

Answer

Remove the float bowl on the end of the carburetor. The main jet is in the metering block at the bottom. Look for any debris in the jet. Clean jet and bowl with carburetor cleaner spray and reassemble.

Here is some literature from Holley that will help you identify parts on your carburetor.
