Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXX;

What is the model number of your unit, please?

Check the heating element for any abnormalities. Rough spots, places that look like they have been arc welded, or anything out of the ordinary.

Please let me know what you find.

Hello THS,

It's PLEB27S8CCC. The element looks fine unless there is something very subtle that I am not seeing. but it is smooth with no major discloration.

I restripped the wires and am going to reconect it to the power to see if it pops the circuit breaker or if it was a freak power surge

I reconnected it and it is running. The flash may have been the light bul because that was blown. I dont understand why that wire was melted do you have any ideas what may have happened. I go on the road tomorrow and I worry about the wife f there is a real issue?

Accepted Answer

XXXXXXXXX I had a look around the internet and have not found any issues associated with this model. There have ben issues with some older units but not with yours. If the unit begins to do strange things like the buzzer going off for no reason or the oven turning itself on then kill the power at the breaker and leave it off till it can be checked out by a qualified service person. The units that have a problem always exhibit strange behavior prior to frying the element in a very ...shall we say "dramatic" way.

For now just make sure your smoke detectors all work, she knows this, and where the breaker switch for it is. Then go on your road trip and rest easy. She will have ample warning before anything dramatic happens.
