Question

Recently we were told to use Barbicide as a preventive for fungus on our goats. We thought the goats were acting strange, but, didn't know why. Today as we clipped them for a show, we discovered the barbicide had burned their skin. We have been told to bath them everyday and use a good conditioner such as Mane and Tail Conditioner. Is that the best thing we can do to speed the healing of their skin. The skin is burnt in patches. We have them entered in several shows the next few weeks, and of course for their sake, as well as the shows, we would like to speed the healing process as quickly as possible. We had a mixture of 8 oz barbicide to 32 oz water...evidently that was too strong or it was used too much.

Thanks

Accepted Answer

You can use sliver sulfadiazene cream on the wounds twice daily. This works especially well on burns. You can buy this creme over the counter at some human pharmacies and most pet stores and/or veterinary clinics. In 3 to 5 days they should look much better.
