Question

I just bought a 94 Saturn SL1. It has a VERY strong fuel smell inside the car and gets much worse when stopped idling. Any suggestions before I talk to a mechanic?

Answer

This will need to be repaired by a mechanic, the problem is likely a fuel injector leaking and some tear down in order to see the leak. In most cases when fuel is smelled inside the vehicle it is something in the engine compartment.

Is this costly?

Accepted Answer

It will depend on if there is just a o-ring leaking or a injector it self. If the problem is a o-ring, I would say it may be around $100.00 to repair and if the whole injector is bad it could be as much as $300.00.
