Question

Since upgrading to Outlook 2007 I am unable to read Slashdot daily digest emails. At some point the email just gets cut short, often in the middle of a sentence or even a word.

UPDATE: I just tried again and forwarding to GMAIL does NOT seem to fix the problem any more. The forwarded email is cut off in GMAIL now too.

Optional Information

OS: Windows Vista; Browser: Firefox

Already Tried:
If I forward the slashdot email to my Gmail account it works fine, so I think the problem is purely with Outlook's display- the full message is still there under the covers.

How can I get it so I can read these emails in Outlook without having to forward to another account?

Are the emails just from slashdot or are they from any one?

Yep- I only have this problem with slashdot digest emails. A google search shows I am not the only one, but no solutions I've been able to find.

I've looked more closely at this problem and when I look at the slahsdot message there is a strange byte (the paragraph symbol) right at the place where the message gets truncated.

My guess is that Outlook 2007 got very strict with strange bytes in messages to help security.

Thanks,
josh

Answer

I think you should adjust the security settings for the time being until slashdot changes their news letter. I would also recommend emailing slashdot so they are aware of the problem.

Open outlook then go to tools and trust center.
under programmatic updates click on never warn me. also try adding slashdot under the trusted publishers list.

I hope this helps. Have fun with slashdot!

Unfortunately none of the security setting has any effect on this problem.

I have since come up with a solution which I have posted here...

Thanks for trying.
