Question

I have a 3 year old DSH who has recently begun drooling. I have hard-wood floors and i can spot small trails of drool. Further, I've noticed a damp spot about 6 inches in diameter on the couch where he was sleeping. I'm not sure how long he was there for that large of a spot to form. I will take him into the vet tomorrow afternoon but I'd like to be sure he will be OK overnight.

Hi XXXXXXXXXXXX,

I'm really glad you have an appointment tomorrow - sounds like you are a very responsible cat parent!

Drooling can be caused by many different issues - some examples are dental disease (even in a young kitty), nausea, and even a liver problem called a "shunt."

If you're cat is otherwise acting normally - normal activity level, appetite, urinating and defecating ok - it is very likely he will be fine until tomorrow. If you are seeing any other symptoms besides the drooling, let me know...

Sincerely,
ERDogDoc
