You should speak with an attorney concerning their negligence in coming to the wrong address. Their negligence caused you emotional distress, embarrasment, and property damages. They should be held liable and you need to have someone evaluate the matter on your behalf. Your attorney will likely wish to send a demand letter to the city/county with a monetary demand for the damages incurred (including emotional distress and public humiliation).
Do not accept their offer to fix your door until you've spoken with a local attorney about your matter. Most attorneys will sit down and give you an initial consultation for free.
Good luck.
