Do this, first close all doors and lock the car, so that the alarm sets, wait 60 seconds, then open the truck with the key, leave the trunk open then open the door and start the car, if the key is a valet and does not fit the trunk, then you may have a bigger problem. If the vehicle is equipted with a right door key lock then you can do the same, lock the car, wait and then open the right door, do not close before you start the car, as the alarm may reactivate it self. Some 99s had dual locks while other did not, and only had a driver door lock. If this is the case and the key is a valet, you will need to repalce the door lock as the contact inside has failed. Keep a note for your daughter, these vehicles are equipted with a feature that if the remote is used to unlock the vehicle the control unit does not see a door open within 30 seconds the car will relock itself, so since the left door lock is faulty, if she opens the car and does not start right away, and sets the keys inside the car and closes the doors, you will be locked out as the alarm control unit will relock the vehicle.
