Check the hose clamp on the heater hoses at the firewall, these trucks had a nasty habit of leaking coolant from the heater hoses and running onto #4 ign coil and also down between the intake man and head, all it takes to repair it is to tighten the clamps or replace them.

Would I see evidence of the leaking from the heater hose? I have it off now and cant really see where any fluid had stained the walls except under the manifold. However it makes some sort of sense because when running the coolant was on top of the manifold right at cylinder 4

Answer

Noyou likely wont see any evidence on the firewall,as the heater core pipes extend out away from the firewall, also as the engine heats up the hose expands and seals off the the leak, they usually only leak when cold and the hose and clamps contract.
