Question

Our pet rose hair tarantula got out of her cage the other night in the kitchen, we have no idea of where to start looking, do they go to dark spaces, light spaces, high spaces low spaces, where do we start ? We have a screen door that is often open to the outside, would she gravitate to cooler outside or warmer inside. Its been so hot out here we have fans on in the house as well. How long could she live on her own without her crickets, is there a way to attract her to a spot ?

Hello,

She is going to look for a warm spot and most likely behind a stove, refrigerator, couch inbetween the cushions, under covers of a bed. Your best way to draw her out is to get a nice cricket keeper with some loud crickets that chirp. Set it up in an area wher she may be located and darken the room and wait. The sound, and vibrations the crickets should draw her out. You may want to set up several areas like this and have others in the household to monitor the areas. I imaginge she is still in the house, tucked away in a nice warm spot. The Tarantulas are nocturnal hunters so night is the best chance to find her. You should aslo need to leave a sponge out with water so the tarantula can drink. She can go for a whaile without food, but will get hungry within a couple of days. You may even want to set out some sticky paper near the crickets to help try and trap her. Joan
