Question

I have yellow, orange, white and pink daylilies (I have no idea what their proper names are). I planted them several years ago. I live in central Indiana. The past two or three years the lilies all flowered all summer and fall. This year they aren''t doing anything. They all flowered at the beginning of the season but now have big round things (maybe seed pods??) rather than flower buds. I have no idea what I should be doing to make them grow and flower but around here many people have them flowing beautifully all season. Please help!! I obviously have NO background in any kind of gardening!

Hello XXXX_XXXX_XXXX,

Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer. The "big round things" are seed pods. They should be removed and this will make the plant produce more blooms. The weather this year has not been conducive to blooms in central Indiana this year. This is likely part of the reason you are not seeing more blooms. I would like you to click here to view some very good information on your day lilies. If after reading the information included in the link, you have additional questions, please let me know.

Should you require further clarification, never hesitate to ask. It would be my pleasure to clarify my answer to your question. If after reviewing the above information, you have additional questions, I will be glad to answer them. My goal is your 100% satisfaction with all questions I answer.
