Hi there!

What do we gain by studying geometry? Do you see any geometric concepts being used in your area of expertise or in your day-to-day experiences? Explain.

It is very important to study shapes and angles and how they work. For example, in my kickboxing, I can determine the angle that I can kick with my leg (and I'm always trying to improve it). Geometry is very important for my house. If I want to buy a new piece of furniture, I need to make sure that it will fit -- and I can base that on the dimensions of the furniture and the room that it will be in.

What is a polygon? What is the difference between an equiangular polygon, an equilateral polygon, and a regular polygon? Provide an example of each.

A polygon is a multisided shape that is formed by connecting a number of non-overlapping straight line segments. An equiangular polygon is one in which all of the interior angles are the same. An equilateral polygon has sides that are all the same length. A regular polygon is both equiangular and equilateral.

A rhombus is an equilateral polygon (all of the sides are the same length, but the angles are different). A rectangle is equiangular (all of its angles are 90 degrees, but the sides aren't the same length). A square is a regular polygon (all the angles are 90 degrees, and the sides are the same length).
