Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that your cat has received this frightening diagnosis. Unfortunately, lymphoma is one of the cancers least responsive to natural treatments. Even holistic vets recommend that the alternative treatments be used only to supplement chemotherapy. That being said, the following site has a list of natural therapies and supplements that owners of cats with lymphoma have used. Most of them are products that boost or support the immune system.

http://felinelymphomacaregivers.org/docs/HolisticRemedies.html

A different page at the same site offers an extensive list of information on lymphoma:

http://felinelymphomacaregivers.org/first.html

There are several different protocols for chemo for treatment of this cancer. Some of them result in an average remission of over 1 1/2 years. Cats don't usually suffer the same types of side effects from chemo that humans do. If you'd like to read more about the different protocols and their results:

Another place you may find support and information is the Yahoo group for owners of cats with cancer. In that group, you can discuss natural and conventional therapies with people who have used them. This link will take you to the home page:

If you need other types of information, or have more questions, just let me know by clicking on REPLY. There's no additional charge. I'll be hoping for the best possible outcome for your cat.

Hi Anna,

Thanks for the info. My cat hasnt officially been diagnosed with lymphoma. The vet suspects it may be. However they want to do a biopsy on her to confirm. She had a blood transfusion a few weeks ago because her levels were low and she lost weight. Last weekend she had chest and abdomen xrays done and they saw something close to the heart but wasnt sure if it was a mass or not. Now they want to do a biospy in that area but there could be a chance of hitting the heart when doing this. I know you mention alternative treatments would not help alone. However is there something that may boost her immune system for the short term that is worth a try? I really dont want to put her thru chemo. She is eating now and very loving. Thanks again for your help.

Transfer factors are thought to be one of the best immune boosters. You can read more about them here:

Here is an online source of some that have been used in cats:

Another possibility is to give a mix of antioxidants, such as vitamin C, selenium, and vitamin E. You'd want to use a mix, because they work together. Here's a source for a reputable brand made just for cats:

Omega 3 fatty acids are also good. You can just add a bit of salmon oil (according to instructions on the bottle) to her food. You can buy salmon oil in most pet stores. Again, if you have more questions, just let me know.
