hello. the reason the security light is on... is that there is a fault with the theft deterrent system on your vehicle. the ignition lock cylinder is part of the theft system and is the most likely fault with your vehicle.. a pair of contacts in the cylinder touch the outside edges of the "pellet" in the key itself. from time to time the wires for the cylinder break or the contacts wear down. in either case the lock cylinder needs to be replaced and that should take care of your issue.
