i have a 1988 gmc suburban it turns over but will not start drop fuel tank un pluged fuel pump only geting 8 volt put on new relay

Is the battery at a low state of charge? Did you crank the vehicle for a while before you suspected the fuel pump? The pump should run even with 8 volts I would check the ground terminal in the pump connector. Check for spread terminals in the connector

yes the lights are good the only thing when i turn on ignition my oil light won't come on

Unplug the oil sending unit and ground the tan wire and see if the oil light comes on?
