Question

i have a 99 s10, the problem i am having with it is i have lost all power to the speedometer, odometer, temp, fuel, high beam indicator, shift light, radio, dash bulb light check, and interior lights. sometimes i would get it back for a minuite,at that time it would do the dash bulb check ,as though i had just turned the ignition on . i have replaced the multifunction switch and the instrument cluster. i feel that it is a problem with ground, but i dont know where.

Answer

I would suspect that you have a bad ignition switch. There are multiple circuits that feed through the ignition switch. The circuit that feeds the instrument panel must be losing contact. you can check the ground, it is located at G203,G204,G205 on the passenger side under the dash, look at the picture below:

Reply to Dave Nova's Post: isn't the multifunction switch the same as the ignition switch? it hooks up right below the ignition key tumbler assembly. also i have checked the grounding point on the left but not on the right.

Answer

Technically, the multifunction switch is the turn signal switch. The ignition switch is below the Ignition lock cylinder. Make sure the ignition switch is clocked properly so that the switch position matches the key position. Also check the connector to the ignition switch to make sure all the terminals look okay.
