Question

When I push the power window button on the drivers master switch none of the windows work up or down, there is a whine like noise coming from the master window switch, (the old switch and the new switch I purchased). Meanwhile, as your pushing down the window switch, all the doors lock.

Optional Information

Optional Information:
1993 Mazda 929 3.0L V6

Already Tried:
Checked fuses inside the car and in the engine bay, but can't tell what's what in the engine bay's fuse boxe's because the fuses/relays are not readable and I don't know how to check those types. 2) tried using the other window switches on the other doors in the car-unsuccessful. 3)Unpluged master switch to see if the other 3 windows would work-unsuccessful. 4) Purchased a new master window switch assembly(unsuccessful). 5) Checked the wires and harnesses with-in the drivers door for possible frays or touching wires-unsuccessful. 6) Made the factory alarm activate-unsuccessful.

Because this is a very strange problem I purchased a Schematic of the system. I will post this for your reference. I specialize in electronic/electrical and I have seen these strange problems before. The window circuit, and the lock system share no common circuit. So normal logic would lead most to think this is impossible. There is a phenomena called ground feedback where a circuit looses it's ground so it feeds back through another circuit, and causes the other circuit to actuate (sometimes erratically). So the two systems are totally isolated, except that they both share a common grounding point, ground G201 near the right side of the instrument panel. The lock system has a total of 4 grounds so if it looses G201 it can still function, at least partly. At G201 where the window, and lock system ground wires meet, I believe that there is a bad connection to ground, and the window switch tries to ground through the lock circuit and actuates the locks.

The best fix is to locate G201 and clean and tighten the connection. The only reference the Mazda repair manual gives to it's location is near the right side of the instrument panel. If you have any more questions I am here to help. Good luck, and Thanks for using Just Answer.

I hope this helps, 100% satisfaction is my goal. If the answer is not clear, please reply and I will assist you more. When you're satisfied, click on accept. I don't get paid unless you do. A bonus and positive feedback are always appreciated, good luck and Thanks.

Hi, so do I need to remove the instrument panel to gain access? Is it below the instrument panel by the air central air duct, behind the panel? Thanks for your help.

The only reference the Mazda repair manual gives to it's location is near the right side of the instrument panel. I believe that you would have to remove the instrument panel to get to it. You could try to perform a bypass and ground the black wire coming off of the window switch. Depending on the function of the joint connector that this wire goes through in route to G201, this may or may not work. This bypass may be a super easy fix, you might have to possibly go on to the dash to G201. Also it looks like the schematics did not come through in the last post, I will re post them. If you have any more questions I am here to help. Good luck, and Thanks for using Just Answer.

Thanks for all the help, like you said to do first, a simple ground to window circuit fixed the problem. Sorry you haven't been paid yet, thats my mistake because I didn't fully understand how the process works. I got an email saying the funds have been withdrawn but I didn't realize I needed to click on the accept icon. Once again, thanks for the help.
