Question

I appearantly have ED and have been on Flomax for probably two years. I know that a side effect of flomax is a reduction in semen. If or when I may ejaculate, there appears to be NO semen, but there is blood, dark red. I mentioned it to my Eurogogist and he just said it probably is coming from the prostate. I would think there would be a better answer for my problem. Should I stop the Flomax and ask for something else to shrink the prostate? Hal Colby XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Hal,

This can be caused by inflammation, infection, blockage, or injury anywhere along the male reproductive tract. It may indicate disease or a problem within the urethra, testicles, epididymis, or prostate. Blood in the semen is usually the result of inflammation of the seminal vesicles, and will usually go away spontaneously. Sometimes, the cause cannot be determined. You can read more about this here

If it occurs again, then I would let your doctor know and you should be evaluated. As far as your medication is concerned, only your doctor can determine whether or not you should discontinue your medication so I would discuss this issue with him/her.
