Answer

Hello, Have you checked your fuel filter lately? If you can you want to check the fuel pressure. It should not exceed 40psi. Check for vacuum leaks. Also check the function of the thermostat. Check this by checking the lower radiator hose it should stay cool until the temp gauge gets to just under half way. Let me know your results. Thanks

dont beleive its the filter cause it has plenty of fuel to engine when i get on it,plenty of power at higher rpms, dont beleive its the thermostat cause it reaches running temp, half way on the gauge, and stays there, even if im running it hard.check engine light is on,trying to avoid dealership,$105/hour,thinking its a sensor of some sort, have a parts car to change out parts easily

Accepted Answer

I didn't know you had a check engine light on. If you have a local parts store near by they will pull your engine code for you for free. Most codes refer to an emission issue yet some May be related to a cam sensor or crank sensor. If you cant get it done at the parts store than if you have a few parts to exchange start with the air flow meter. Then go to the sensors. idle fluctuating can be caused by a vacuum leak, too much fuel pressure, or a poorly adjusted throttle switch. Let me know your results. Thanks
