Hello XXXXXXX,
Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer. From the information you have provided it would be difficult to determine if the mattress was damaged. Normally a slight sag would not damage the mattress. Flipping a mattress will normally remove any sag and make it lay correctly as long as the foundation is good. A new foundation will definitely help. Click here for more information on the topic.

As long as the foundation of the mattress is good and the mattress is flipped the mattress will be fine. The inner coils are flexible and will not develops a permanent arch unless they are actually damaged. It is always recommended to replace the mattress and the foundation at the same time to get the warrenty. Before purchasing a new foundation I would suggest laying the mattress on the floor to see if the mattress lays flat.
