Accepted Answer

Only if the worker has a valid MA or other US driver's license or possibly an international dl. In most cases the states will not accept international dl but want the person to get a state dl. The visa gives this person no privilege to operate a motor vehicle in the US.

The worker has a BulgarXXX XXcense and can drive acording to the MA RMV but is does make it clear if he can drive company vehiles.

The J1 visa is a work and travel visa good for four months.

DRIVING IN MASSACHUSETTS

Fact: The “international License” is not recognized in the state of Massachusetts

Fact: All people moving to Massachusetts have 30 days in which to obtain a Massachusetts Driver’s License.

All information regarding Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles can be found at www.state.ma.us/rmv

For those people who will be here temporarily (up to six months), a list of those countries that have reciprocal privileges is below. This means if you come from a country on this list, and have a valid driver’s license from that country, you do not need a Massachusetts Driver’s License. If your country is not on the list and you are here temporarily, you do need a Massachusetts Driver’s License.

Answer

Thanks for the additional information.

Under the MA DMV rules, you do not need a license if you are here temporarily and have a valid BulgarXXX XXcense. If your employer allows you to drive a company vehicle, there is nothing to stop you from doing so. Since you have the ability to drive a vehicle legally, that ability allows you to drive a complany vehicle legally. Good luck.
