Mechanic has found that pump is running all the time

Answer

Hi,

If the pump is running all the time i would be looking at the height sensors for the back axle. The car thinks it is lower than it is so runs the pump to lift it. These senors are fitted under the car on the rear suspension arms.

They often suffer from corosion to the contacts. The sensors can also be checked by removing them and measuring the resistance while moving the adjuster arm. Move the arm and the resistance should change.

Hope this is usefull

Phil,

We checked the sensors this morning and they appear to be working correctly but the pump still keeps on running. But, we are going to install new ones to see if that makes any difference. Unless you have any other suggestions I will get back to you on Monday after we've tested with new sensors/regards/peter

Answer

Hi,

I have news for you.

There was a problem with the light control modules on the X5 causing the suspension to raise. The fix was to re-code the light control module (LCM)

Hope this works Phil.......

Answer

Hi i would stronglly recommend you re- code the LCM if only takes 5 min.

The LCM is part of the suspension curciut because of the auto adjust headlight aim.
