Hello XXXXXXX XXXX,

It appears the doctor signed off on the prior question. I suggest you read it carefully, or if there is something you don't understand about his answer, please ask me and I will help you with it.

Basically, if you husband is having diarrhea that many times, yes is in danger of severe dehydration and electrolyte balance problems that could cause a total shut down of kidney or a heart arrythmia.

The doctor suggested that your husband has an intestinal infection and that could be the reason for the frequent stools and that perhaps he needs a stool sample to be analyzed for infection.

The doctor suggested he get medical treatment and see his doctor right away.

I read that you say your husband has already been in and out of the hosptial and now is home on a Morphine pump.

Is your husband taking fluids for you, or eating anything? If so what? Is he alert and talking to you?

If you want to keep him as healthy as possible, then he needs adequate fluids and nutrition. Keep the head of the bed up when he is eating and for an hour or so after eating. Give him frequent drinks of water and diluted juices.

If he is bed bound, he will do best to be encouraged to turn and change his position every two hours.

Do you have anyone to help you?

If you need further questions answered on this subject, feel free to write me back, I'll look for your reply.

Take care,

Susan
