Question

1998 mercury sable - the turn signals, left & right do not work. I checked the fuse in the fuse box - #15 slot, 10 amp - fuse was fine. Headlamps & tail lights work. What may be the problem?

It sounds like the turn signal flasher has gone out. It is located under the driver dash and controls the turns signals.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Locate the flasher assembly under the driver's side of the instrument panel and remove the flasher retaining screw.

  3. Detach the flasher from the connector and remove the flasher from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. The installation is the reverse of the removal.
