Hello XXXXXXX,
I am sorry to hear of your problem. Excessive sweating is a condition called hyperhidrosis; for unknown reasons, the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands, in some people, are far more active. That causes the excessive sweating. There are factors that are implicated in this, and we know that certain stimuli can make people sweat more (like drinking a hot beverage, and in your case, food). Medications can as well, especially anti psychotic medications, morphine, and synthroid.
Heredity can play a role in hyperhidrosis. Menopause as well can cause epidodes of sweating (if you are female of that age...you dont give your sex or age).Hyperthyroidism can as well cause more sweating than normal, but it is usually accompanied by anxiety, palpitations, and heat sensitivity.
Treatment options for this can include medicines that slow sweating called anticholinergic drugs, botox, and in some cases, even surgery to sever the nerves to the sweat glands.
Discussing your situation with your health care provider is a good idea, because he or she can see if your thyroid is in balance, or if it could be medication related, or to start a trial of medications to slow the sweating down.
I offer you the Mayo Clinics web site on the topic for further information: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/sweating-and-body-odor/DS00305/DSECTION=1
Good luck to you,
Sincerely,
Susan
PS: I just saw your edited information to include your gender and age. Its also possible menopause is related to this as well.
